Unlucky Town
Chris Dearns Friday, April 29, 2005 23:24 GMT

It didn't take much of a team talk to get the Dinnington players up for this game, Both Andy Sykes and Ben Dearns declared themselves fit and back came Matt Smith, But disaster struck early for Town as a free kick from the left by Sheffield was cleared by John Saville but it hit Sheffield's Rob Ward and into the net. This didn't put Town off it just made them more determined which suprised Sheffield and at times rattled them so much so when a bad tackle by Sheffield's Jones brought down Graham Clark and as they went to the floor Jones clearly punched Clark in the face the referee standing yards away from the incident awarded a free kick to Town but did nothing about the punch. This was just one of a few strange decisions by the referee. HT 0-1

Second half Town took the initiative and were looking the better team on 55mins shot by Clark over the bar, Sheffield replied with a shot by Tevendale, 70 minutes a Mirfin cross found Smith whose shot was saved. 72 minutes a Matt Smith free kick came to Cartledge whose header was kicked off the line and in the dying minutes Smith found Clark whose Run and Shot just went wide. Town had plenty of chances but the luck was with Sheffield tonight FT 0-1
