Subs seal the game for Town
Chris Dearns Tuesday, April 19, 2005 Dinnington Town 3 Appleby Froddingham 0

Town were missing star striker Liam Cartledge but were still eager to keep the good run going against mid table Appleby. Town made all the running in the first half and it was no surprise they scored on 40 minutes when a wonderfull cross by Michael Williams found Roger McKenzie who headed down for Simon Murfin to volly past Simpson the Appleby keeper. HT 1-0

More of the same in the second half but Town just missed the final touch. With 20 minutes to go Town made a few changes with substitutes James Hendry and Craig Atkinson coming, and scoring late in the game to make the scoreline more respectable. FT 3-0

This result puts Dinnington into second place above Pelican who lost to Radford at home 2 -1

Dinnington Town 4 Rainworth MW 2

After 10 minutes Town took the lead when a great cross from the left by Mark Thompson found Roger McKenzie who steared the ball past Wilson the Rainworth goalkeeper. Town were in top gear now and extended their lead on 18 minutes when a long ball came to McKenzie who first had a header parried by the goalkeeper but the ball came back to him whilst laid on the ground and he managed to get a foot to the ball and into the net. Town extended their lead further on 43 minutes when Liam Cartlegde was taken down in the penalty area which he scored from the kick. HT 3-0

Second half Town came out smiling thinking they had won the game but were soon put on the rack by Rainworth with two quick goals from Cobbley and a penalty from Millner. Cartledge eased their fears with the deciding goal on 75 minutes. FT 4-2

Striker return boosts goals

DINNINGTON were boosted on Tuesday by the return of Liam Cartledge who scored in his second game back. The former Retford hitman took his tally to three goals in two appearances to help Town to a comfortable win. It should have been more as Cartledge missed three gilt-edged chances. Both goals came in the second half. Simon Mirfin opened the scoring a minute into the half with a shot from 10 yards and Cartledge wrapped things up with a finish into the bottom left corner through a crowded penalty area.

Dinnington Town 1 v Southwell City 1

THE return of Mat Smith, Mark Thompson, Ben Rosser and Simon Mirfin after injury could not propel Dinnington to victory as they were held on Saturday. The game started brightly but Southwell took the lead in the 20th minute when their best player Ben Saunders scored with a scuffed shot that beat Joe Parlatt in Town's goal.

Ben Rosser moved to midfield in the second half and Town soon equalised in the 50th minute. A corner from Greg Wright found the head of John Saville and he powered home an unstoppable header.
Town had now found the form that has been lacking in previous games but, on this occasion, luck was against them. Simon Mirfin came close for Dinnington, but Town were forced to settle for a draw.
